Gorgeous Grind, Classic Coffee
You remember I mentioned efficiency? Well, let’s not hang about any longer. For me, the best coffee machine with grinder comes from Cuisinart.
It’s exceptionally well-priced, surprisingly sturdy, and manages to pack a whole host of features into a pretty compact package. We review it in more detail below. Just so you know what it was up against, though, let’s take a look at the features of the entire top five.

Such an intriguing name. Is it a cappuccino maker, an espresso machine with grinder, or a combination? The slow-motion of the conical burr grinder means you get the maximum aroma and a more uniform, finer grind. The technology also means there’s a direct feed of beans right into the burrs.
With the Capresso 464.05 coffee maker you get a choice of glass or stainless steel carafe. There’s a maximum capacity of 10 cups, and the coffee bean container holds 6 ounces at a time. With the built-in filter you don’t need to worry about paper filters; plus many parts are dishwasher-safe for cleaning and maintenance. The filter is an attractive gold color.

Weighing just 10 pounds, this square delight was one of the two lightest machines we looked at. You need to allow 9.25 inches wide by 9.25 inches deep by 15.25 inches high. It wasn’t the cheapest machine on the list but it wasn’t the most expensive either. At the time of writing, it sat nicely mid-market. The glass carafe version is usually very slightly pricier.
Not only can you set this programmable machine to brew your coffee, but you can set it to auto-grind as well. The timer lets you set your time to grind, and brew automatically (AM or PM).You don’t have to use the grinder on the machine though – you can also use pre-ground coffee beans.
Your choices are “brew” if you’re using pre-ground coffee, or grind/brew mode for the whole bean. And the stop-and-serve means if you’re really in a hurry, you can even remove the carafe in the middle of brewing.
It’s super-easy to see what’s happening with the ground coffee thanks to the see-through cover, which is also detachable. The grinder channel is also really easy to keep clean. There’s a charcoal water filter, so over 80% of chlorine and any other impurities get filtered out. With the 2-hour shut-off, your coffee stays hot for a couple of hours after it’s brewed.
You can also choose your coffee strength: mild to strong, and how much coffee to brew at a time. All together now: 2, 4, 6, 8 – or 10.
It’s even possible to set one program for automatic operation, and one for manual. There are 5 grind settings too. The LCD panel shows at a glance the grind, strength, and time settings you’ve selected.
Pros & Cons
✔ Water repository has a water level indicator on the inside
✔ Extremely easy to clean
✔ Conical burr grinder
✔ 2-hour auto shut-off
✔ You can use with or without the grinder
✗ The display is super bright to the point of being dazzling
✗ Limited one-year warranty
Classy Cuisinart Coffee Maker With Grinder
This one was top of the pops, as it were. The Cuisinart Burr Grind and Brew Automatic Coffeemaker looks great, performs consistently, and is amazingly easy to clean. (It’s self-cleaning, in fact.)
The burr grinder means great consistency – practically professional. And the design of the assembly, incorporating a direct flow or auto rinse, means that grounds go straight into the brewing basket.
The hopper takes half a pound of beans at a time, and the sealed top means the beans stay fresh. You can opt for regular, bold, or if you’re really in the mood for strong coffee extra-bold flavor strengths.

There’s an option to set a program from 4 cups to 12 cups, and you don’t have to use the grinding option if you’d rather use your favorite pre-ground. Just select grind-off instead. There are 3 coffee strengths on offer.
The LCD display is decently sized and super easy to use. You get a crystal clear overview of how you’ve customized your choices. There’s an adjustable auto shut-off function, and a 24-hour brew start program. The permanent filter is gold-tone, and the charcoal water filter removes impurities to produce great-tasting coffee.
This Cuisinart coffee maker with grinder model has a capacity of 4 to 12 cups of coffee at a time. It’s amazing value for money and packs a lot of capacity and features into just 10.88 by 14.38 by 20 inches of space. It weighs 16 pounds and you get a 3-year warranty (with some limitations). There’s a choice of black or silver.
There are a few small niggles, like having to make sure that you’ve measured the beans you’re using really carefully. You also have to ensure that any paper filters you use fit exactly and that the basket is facing the right way to avoid mess. And the main niggle was that you have to grind coffee for at least 4 cups of coffee at a time.
This machine has so many excellent features it was hard to decide which to highlight. Here are just a few: the burr grinder gives you a uniformly consistent grind; the grounds are dispensed straight into the brewing basket due to the DirectFlow technology and dispensed directly into the brewing basket thanks to the AutoRinse.
Pros & Cons
✔ Sealed lid on bean hopper for maximum freshness
✔ Program between 4 to 12 cups
✔ Auto shutoff is adjustable
✔ Carafe handle designed for a comfort grip
✔ Self-cleaning grinder
✔ Permanent filter basket is very durable
✔ Keeps your coffee hot for 4 hours (max)
✗ The grinder is very loud
✗ Can’t adjust the grind of the beans
✗ Some limitations on the 3-year warranty
Beautiful Breville Coffee Machine With Grinder
As best coffee maker with grinder options go, I was also pretty taken with the Breville BDC650BSS – I’d class this stainless steel classic as the top performer in this selection. You get a whopping 8 strength settings from this Breville coffee maker with grinder. Alternatively, opt for the pre-ground coffee selection.
The bean hopper has a capacity of half a pound of coffee, and the locking system means it’s really easy to remove, store, and transfer. You can get real-time feedback on your choices from the LCD screen. This includes brewing time, grind size, grinding time, strength selection, and water level.
- Product note: Please refer to user manual (provided below in PDF) before first use.Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to...
The auto start is programmable so you don’t need to worry about the grinding and brewing cycle: it’ll happen automatically as per your instructions. You can control the temperature before you brew as well, even if you start with cold water.
The water tank has a generous capacity of 60 fluid ounces, although for best results the manufacturers recommend filtered water. They suggest you stay away from demineralized water, that is, reverse osmosis or distilled.
You can brew as little as a single serving or as much as 12 cups at a time. It measures 12.5 inches by 9.5 by 16.3 inches high. The drip tray is removable, so you’ll get a standard 7.5-inch travel mug or tall cup under there.
What comes with it? You get the coffee maker itself, complete with its gold-tone permanent filter, a user manual and quick start guide, a booklet outlining techniques and tips, and a thermal carafe.
Pros & Cons
✔ 60-ounce water tank with level indicator
✔ Choose from a single cup to 12 servings

✗ Don’t risk running through the dishwasher – manual recommends hand washing
KRUPS Espresso Machines With Grinder
KRUPS is another well-known name in the coffee world, and when it comes to budget options, this is a strong contender for the award of the best coffee maker with grinder. The KRUPS Grind and Brew Auto-Start Maker has a built-in conical burr coffee grinder. It allows you to brew from 2 cups up to 10 cups at a time. The grinder means your beans are ground just before you brew.
It’s surprisingly customizable. You get 5 grind choices, from coarse to fine, and you can also choose from 3 strength flavor options. It’s programmable, so if you feel like waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, you can. And there’s a 2-hour “keep warm” function. The filter receptacle and the glass coffee pot are dishwasher-safe, but only in the top rack.

And the Brew Pause option means you can pour yourself that much-anticipated cup of coffee whenever you feel like it. Even if the brewing cycle isn’t complete.
And while I love coffee in all its forms, I’m not a huge fan of it dripping where it shouldn’t – and the carafe on this machine is really cleverly shaped. The spout is curved, so the pouring is (hurrah!) drip-free. Got your tape measure ready to check how much space you’ll need for this one? The base measures 13.78 by 11.57 inches and it’s 17.52 inches high.
There’s an LCD screen which means it’s super-simple to program and use, and the basket filter is removable so you can clean it easily. (It’s also a rather attractive gold tone.)
You do need to clean the channel now and then that passes grinds from the burrs to the filter as it can sometimes get a little caked. It’s also easy to buy replacement pots on their own. You can use either whole bean or pre-ground coffee.
You do need to use quite a lot of coffee (though that could just be because I really like strong coffee, of course).
Pros & Cons
✔ Brew as few as 2 or as many as 10 cups at once
✔ Curved spout means pouring is delightfully drip-free
✔ Filter and pot are described as dishwasher safe (top rack only)
✔ 2-hour “keep warm” function
✔ 5 grind choices, coarse to fine
✗ On the noisy side
✗ You need to check that there are enough beans to make your coffee
✗ Build is very light
Beautiful Beverages From Barsetto
Bringing up the rear in this mini contest for the best coffee maker with grinder is the Barsetto 10-Cup Drip Coffee Maker. This Grind and Brew Automatic Coffee Machine has its own integral Burr Coffee Grinder. There’s a keep warm plate, a timer mode which can be programmed, and a removable filter basket.
The water tank has a respectable 51 fluid ounce capacity. You can choose to brew 2 cups or 4, 6, 8, or 10 servings at a time, or just go with the default, which is 10 cups.
You can choose to make a drink with pre-ground coffee or whole coffee beans. In the latter case, the burr grinder does its job very well. You get 8 different grind choices, from fine to coarse, and 3 strength settings, strong, medium, and mild. You can also control the grind with the “Grind Off” button.
Speaking of control, you’re in charge of when the machine starts brewing as well: you can decide when the brewing process starts. And the prompt bell after brewing is super useful too. The warming plate means that coffee can be kept hot for 60 minutes.
There’s a 2-year warranty, and the pack contains a drip coffee maker, glass coffee pot, scoop, and instruction manual. The machine gets to the optimum temperature for coffee brewing quickly – in case you’re wondering, that’s 172.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
There’s a Brewing Pause option too. If you remove the coffee pot while the device is still brewing, it will auto stop its dripping process for 30 seconds.
The coffee hopper can hold around 7 ounces of beans. The LED screen means you can keep track of what’s happening via simple controls. If you decide you’d like a stronger coffee, this will take longer than if you select mild or medium.
It’s a pixie of a machine, measuring just 7.01 by 5.75 by 7.87 inches high.
Pros & Cons
✔ 8 grind settings
✔ 3 coffee strength settings
✔ Prompt bell when brewing is done
✔ Reaches perfect coffee brewing temperature super-fast
✔ Keep coffee hot for 60 minutes
✗ Stronger coffee takes longer to brew than medium or mild
✗ Brewing Pause option only stops pot for 30 seconds
What Is A Single Cup Coffee Maker?
The history of coffee makers goes back hundreds of years, and you’ll probably not be very surprised to learn that Italy was very much involved. When it comes to coffee machines, sometimes, simple is best. And sometimes, you don’t want to brew up a whole pot of coffee; you want it as fresh as possible. Which is where single cup coffee makers come into their own.
What’s a single cup coffee maker, then? The name gives it away. A single cup coffee maker is a coffee machine that allows you to brew just one or two servings of coffee. Math is more important than you might think when it comes to the perfect ratio, brewing temperature, and grind.
With many single cup coffee makers, you also get the option to brew a larger pot of coffee if you prefer. And for maximum flexibility, some machines also have built in grinders. Some even incorporate a choice of grind, from fine to coarse.
Why Choose a Coffee Maker With Built-In Grinder?
It’s fairly well-known that the fresher the coffee beans, in general, the richer the flavor of the coffee. After all, the longer coffee is stored, the more it denatures, although you can minimize the effects with careful choices of containers.
It makes sense, then, that the more recently ground the coffee beans, the fresher the beverage will taste – a theory backed by the National Coffee Association. With a coffee maker with a built-in grinder, there’s an absolute minimum of delay between you (or rather the machine) grinding the beans, and the water filtering through to produce that delicious cup of Joe.
Quite apart from that, there’s the cost angle. Then there’s the cleaning and maintenance and descaling and storage. You only need to find space and time for one device if you opt for a coffee maker with a built-in grinder. The sheer convenience of buying a coffee maker with an integral grinder will win many folks over. (Including me.)
How Do You Select the Best Coffee Maker With Grinder?
As with any purchase, it helps if you’ve got a checklist to make sure you get the right model of coffee maker with a built-in grinder to suit your needs. Do you have your heart set on a particular brand, for instance?
And what type of grinder would you rather have – a coffee maker with a burr grinder or a conical grinder? How important is it that you have the option to use pre-ground coffee as well as whole beans?
Then there are the aesthetics and the practical aspects of the machine, including the overall “look” of the machine. Do you want a simple button interface or a more hi-tech LCD dashboard?
While there’s no substitute for trying out a machine personally, it’s not always an option, so another solution is to weigh up the content of reviews of the device. I’d personally be a little wary of any review with no negatives at all, though, since there’s no such thing as a totally perfect coffee machine. (Although some come pretty close.)
Before You Buy. Ask Yourself The Following:
How often will I be using this machine?
What capacity do I need, in terms of how much coffee it can grind at once?
How much water does the reservoir hold?
What type of water is, or is not, recommended by the manufacturer – filtered, distilled, reverse osmosis?
What size cup or mug can it accommodate?
How long does it take to brew a cup of Joe?
(And where does the “cup of Joe” name come from, anyway?)
How easy is it to clean?
How much space do I need?
What’s the cost, and can I get replacement parts and accessories easily?
Finally, what about aesthetics? Will it fit with my kitchen and my lifestyle?
What Is The Best Single Cup Coffee Maker With Grinder?
Having decided to look at what was the best single-serve coffee maker with grinder for me, and taking a sort of simplified balanced scorecard look at the pros and cons, my best overall match remains the Cuisinart.
Packed with positive features, it would have seemed kinda nit-picky to let the niggles allow me to see this one slip away. (And the niggles, in fairness, were tiny.) So choose the Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew Automatic Coffeemaker as your best bet for a classic cup of coffee.
