We’ve given you the lowdown on pretty much the most intense high-caffeine K-Cup choices out there. While giving them all a (coffee) shot is an option, how do you decide which one(s) to try first?

Firstly, what do we mean by “highly caffeinated”? The average cup of coffee contains around 100 mg of caffeine, although it varies dramatically. Wondering what’s meant by “average”? In the US, that’s usually anywhere from 8 fluid ounces to 12 fluid ounces.

How much caffeine are you looking for, in your high-caffeine K-Cups? Twice the usual dose? More? For reference, the FDA reckons around 400mg is the maximum amount of caffeine you should ingest in a day. That’s around 4 cups of regular strength coffee or 2 cups of higher caffeine varieties.

Wondering how much caffeine there is in a K-Cup? It depends very much on the blend, but guidance is that it’s somewhere between 75 and 150mg per 8 fluid ounce serving.
