The two models of Keurig that we will look at today are the K425 and the K475. Both originate from the Keurig 2.0 line of products and are both high-quality coffee machines.

Both machines have their similarities. However, there are a couple of subtle differences between both machines. These differences are minor though, so the purpose of this review is not to list the features of both products but give a balanced and honest opinion of which machine will provide you with the best value while giving you the highest quality coffee.

Both machines look very similar, and it has been argued that the Keurig K475 is simply the K425 repackaged. Despite the skepticism, there are a couple of differences between the two machines, which I’ll outline in this article.

The Keurig K425 can be described as the little brother of the K475. Similar in looks and feel the K425 comes with a large 70 Oz Water Tank. The K475 also has a 70 Oz Water Tank attached to it.

With the inclusion of a water filter with the machine it makes it very easy to make sure that the water you are using to brew your coffee is purified and any nasty bugs or chemicals have been filtered out. Again like with the K425 you can enjoy a variety of brew sizes and choose the strength of the coffee you like. Brewing a stronger cup will take slightly longer than a regular strength cup, so be prepared to wait somewhat longer if you enjoy your coffee stronger.

The K425 vs. K475 – What Are The Similarities?

On first impressions, the Keurig K425 and the K475 have a very similar aesthetic. Both products have a large 70 oz Water Tanks which allow you to brew up to eight or more cups before having to refill the reservoir.

So, both machines are perfect if you’re brewing coffee for a larger group of people. If you need a coffee machine for your workplace, then both of these machines would suffice. Both of the water tanks are easily removable so you can refill at your luxury.

The K475 is the more expensive machine out of the two, but it can be argued, that the higher price can be justified due to the inclusion of a water filter. If you decide to go with the K425, you can still pick up a water filter separately at a reasonable price.

Shortcomings of the Keurig K425 and K475

For everyday general use, the K425 and the K475 don’t have many shortcomings. Both machines work well for anyone who is looking for an easy to use, simple machine, that will give them high-quality coffee in a reasonable amount of time.

Both machines can require regular descaling. That makes it even more valuable investment in a high-quality water filter should you choose to purchase the K425.
As long as you keep either machine in good condition and check that it’s performing as it should be regularly, then you shouldn’t have any significant problems with either machine.

Our Winner: Keurig K475 

The Keurig K425 and K475 are very similar machines. The only main difference is that the K475 has a water filter that comes with the machine, that is a big plus at making sure you’re coffee is of the highest quality.

The K425 is the slightly older and cheaper machine but doesn’t come with a water filter fitted. So it’s worth considering that although the Keurig K475 Plus machine is somewhat more expensive, it does come with a water filter.

If you want your machine to have a filter, then the K475 would be the machine to go for, and this would be my recommendation. Making just one purchase instead of two is the simpler of the two options and will leave you in a position where you are ready to start enjoying great tasting coffee from the comfort of your own home.

Whichever machine you decide to go for, it’s essential to know that both machines produce high-quality coffee in a reasonable time frame. If your budget is a little lower, then consider the K425, but if you want a machine that already comes with a filter and is ready to go, then go for the K475.
